Bingo Beats the Blues!

Bingo Beats the Blues! I was heartened to see the oldest Bingo player in the UK had just turned 100. How wonderful to remain in the local community and not only that, but also test your reflexes, motor skills, memory and functionality.

I started to go to Bingo at the local hall when my children were little. I missed my friends and talking to them without the children calling me away all the time. I missed the interaction involved in going out but couldn’t handle partying anymore! Bingo was the answer.

I loved the fun, the banter of the caller (I don’t like automated callers!) the giggles and that was enough for me. And then I won! It was such a thrill and did so much for my esteem. Now my daughter is old enough to choose the buzz of bingo over the partying too and her and her friends go! I am so proud of them all especially when they win! I haven’t tried online Bingo – it’s cheaper and perhaps I will one day but until then I am content with my dauber until at least my 101 birthday!

DVI Cables in Day to Day Life

February 20th, 2009 by admin

The use of DVI cables in day to day life has greatly enhanced our viewing pleasure in our homes. DVI cables have given us a better quality picture than we ever dreamed possible a few short years ago, giving consumers movie theater quality right in their own homes. DVI cables are most commonly used for high resolution computer screens and graphics. They are preferred in the gaming industry for people who spend a lot of time playing video games on their home computers. The graphics people experience because of the higher resolution make game-play almost life-like. From computer graphics, DVI cables have been adapted to television screens. They allow people to achieve the highest quality picture possible and maximize the output of their plasma or LCD flat screen television sets, giving a truly life-like quality to the images on the screen. The introduction of DVI cables has been able to give consumers a true, quality theater experience in the comfort of their own homes. More people are finding the quality so good with the pictures they get on their computer monitors and their television sets that they no longer see the need to view a movie on the big screen to get its full effect!

What is a mobile phone? Mobile phone is a classic example of an embedded system designed to communicate voice or data over a cellular radio network without any wires attached to it. Mobile phone allows its user to remain connected to a communication network all the time no matter where he is present. In addition to the normal voice communication mobile phones nowadays have a large number of features and accessories. Some of them are short messaging service (SMS), access to internet, emails, gaming, infrared, Bluetooth, still camera, video recording, multimedia messaging service (MMS), MP3 player, radio, GPS. And the list goes on. Nokia at present is the largest manufacturer of mobile phones all over the globe. Its global market share was approximately 40% in 2008. Some other well known manufacturers of mobile phones include Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson and LG. The cellular network has evolved from the 1st generation (IG) to 3G and is on the verge of moving over to 4th generation solutions. With increasing number of mobile phone users the demand for faster mobile broadband has also increased exponentially. Consumers are looking for faster and faster mobile broadband solutions. In UK the fastest mobile broadband speed available is 7.2 Mbps. But Vodafone has experimented and attained the speeds of nearly 20 Mbps in Spain. Due to the advancement in technology it has become possible to pack maximum number of features into small size bodies of the mobile phones. It has also resulted in fall of the mobile phone prices drastically. Cheap mobile phones from china have also flooded the market. Such mobile phones are available at dirt cheap prices in the market. They are lacking the quality and also pose security threat as they don’t have any IMEI (international mobile equipment identity) number. Mobile phones either use GSM (global system for mobile) or CDMA (code division multiple access). GSM is the most popular standard for mobile phones that is used all over the world. GSM is used nearly by 3 billion people across more than 212 countries. The biggest advantage of using GSM is that it makes international roaming very easy and common between mobile phone operators enabling subscriber to use his phone in mostly all parts of the world CDMA is a comparatively new but effective technology being adopted nowadays by many service providers and users. It has a great scope and W-CDMA (wideband CDMA) is being used for the development of 4-G systems.

Compensation can’t help with the loss of a loved one

My father owned a restaurant for 30+ years. My father was a very dedicated man and never missed a day of work when it came to his business. In the mid eighties, his restaurant was scheduled for asbestos cleaning in the middle of the night because the restaurant obviously had to close in order to do this type of cleaning. My father stayed with the workers all night while they did their job because he basically did not trust anyone to be in his restaurant without him. In November of 2007, my father was diagnosed with mesothelioma and after he was diagnosed, he recalled how he was not protected during the time the workers had cleaned the restaurant twenty years back. My father passed away nine months later in August of 2008. My family has hired a law firm to handle this case and as of this date, most of his medical bills are being paid by the company that owned the mall at the time of the asbestos exposure but no monies have been awarded to the family for the loss of our father. We are going to have to file an asbestos compensation claim which will bring bad some painful memories.

Poker is a card game that requires a certain amount of skill and strategy. Within recent years, this in-person card game has branched out into the virtual world of the internet. People can log onto the internet and certain online poker sites and practice their game from people from all over the world. There are some definite differences between the online and traditional game, ranging from the rate of play to the strategy required. The rate of play online is much more rapid than when playing in person. People only have a certain amount of time to make a move before the game will continue without them, as opposed to traditional poker where players have a longer time allowed to contemplate their moves. Another difference between the two games is the fact that when playing online, you cannot see the other player’s faces. This affects a player’s ability to read their opponents. There are few tells online, whereas when playing face to face with your opponent, some players can often tell what type of hand they have by their facial expression or mannerisms. These two methods of playing poker are different in many aspects, but people enjoy playing both all over the world.
